Description: This house replaces a 1970’s bungalow in a row of similar houses with spectacular views of Kinsale harbour and the ocean beyond. Due to the narrowness of the site and the need to keep a relatively low roofline, a basement for a garage , playroom and utility rooms was created. This allows the living rooms to look over cars which would be in the front garden. The house is next door to another house designed by this office and it was important to create a building which complimented, but was also different in style to its neighbour.

The elevations are clad in dark grey fibre cement panels with floor to ceiling glass and flat roof overhangs for sun shading when the sun is high in Summer. The internal layout is designed to maximize space in a relatively small floor plate. A private patio at the rear takes advantage of afternoon sun and countryside views.
