Project Description

Job Name: House in kinsale

Client: Private Client

Description: The house has been designed with a strong sense of its place in the landscape sited along a wide river the south facing scoped site enjoys panoramic views of the river and beyond. Great care was taken during the design process to reduce the visual impact of the 500m2 dwelling on such a sensitive site. This has been achieved by essentially splitting the dwelling into two blocks, the northern block housing sleeping accommodation while the southern block houses the living functions of the house, these are linked by a glazed corridor which mediates between the different levels within the dwelling. The dwelling while contemporary in nature uses vernacular materials coupled with the arrangement of the two blocks are successful in integrating the building sensitively on the site.
